Conjunctions are words such as en (and), maar (but), of (or), want(because) , als (if), dat (that) etc. They connect sentence elements, sentences or words. Wil je appelsap of sinaasappelsap? (Do you want applejuice or orangejuice?)

Conjunctives on their own are never sentence elements.
