<\/ins>SUBJECT<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

The easiest way to find the sject is to ask yourself, after having found the finite form: Who\/what + finite form?<\/span><\/p>

Example:<\/span>
Oefeningen vind je op Cambiumned.<\/span>
(You can find exercises at Cambiumned)<\/span>
finite form = vind<\/span>
Who finds? = \u2018je,\u2019 so \u2018je\u2019 (you) is the subject.<\/span><\/p>

You can also find the subject by looking at which part of the sentence changes along when you change the finite form in number.<\/span>
The part that changes along is the subject:<\/span><\/p>

Example:<\/span>
Het meisje gaat naar de disco.<\/span>
(The girl is going to the disco.)<\/span>
De meisjes gaan naar de disco.<\/span>
(The girls are going to the disco.)<\/span><\/p>

Singular ‘Het meisje gaat’\u00a0 becomes ‘De meisjes gaan’ so, het meisje (de<\/span>
meisjes) = subject
<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

However, you can\u2019t always change the subject this way.
<\/u><\/strong>Take a look at the following sentences:<\/span><\/p>

– De dierenbescherming zoekt nieuwe leden.<\/span>
(PETA is looking for new members.)<\/span>
– Men wil meer huizen.<\/span>
(People want more houses.)<\/span>
– Alles moet weg.<\/span>
(Everything has to be gone.)<\/span><\/p>
